Orient (as a subsidiary of Seiko) has adopted the "magic lever" technology into many of their automatic movements. This removes the manual wind capability; to start the watch from a stop, you just shake the watch gently back and forth until it starts running. Shake it a couple more times, then put it on and wear normally.
Automatic winders generally do not rotate fast enough to add power to the mainspring, they turn rather gently and maintain whatever power reserve is already wound into the barrels.
with my seiko SNK809 30 seconds of shaking results in a couple of minutes of use, set the time and start wearing it :) I'm not that active, have a office job and my daily commute is enough to keep it charged.
