This will definitely be the last time i use massdrop. Lesson learned, if I want something just buy it from the manufacturer for 10%-15% more or wait for it to go on sale.
Came from china? Can you please explain why we are paying for something that in the Description it states "Made In the USA" . MASSDROP are you reading any of comments?.
santosjrmAccording to HassanS, these were made in South Carolina. Not sure why packout-employee is saying they came from China. Anyone care to clear this up?
Quit being such a baby for missing out shoewizz. How would you feel if you placed an order with Massdrop and it took them over 2 months to fill it because the supplier was overwhelmed by the demand? You may not like not getting in on this drop which is your own fault, but you'd like it even less if you payed and had to wait forever to receive it (that would be MD's fault), you'd be crying about that even louder.
Here's a hint, when an item you want is posted and it's receiving an insane number of buys like this belt was, don't wait, get in on it before it's closed. Anyways they've already said they'll offer this again in the future, keep an eye out and don't sleep on it next time.
The more diplomatic response:
Sorry that you didn't get into the drop. Every product that we run has an implicit 'limit', even if one isn't absolutely stated. However, when speaking with Orion, we told them about the max drop price being at 100 units, and asked about what the absolute limit should be, and the answer was effectively "the limit is more than you will sell."
Well.. you guys sure showed them! Once we passed 500 sales in 3.5 hours, we called them again, and they said that we had better limit it to 1000 orders. We posted that in the comments and it was sold out by 4pm. Sorry for the poor planning and communications, but it was definitely out of the norm for us here at Massdrop.
This buy was, by far, the drop that has most "exceeded expectations" ever. It's the first drop that hit a limit (that didn't exist) in the same day it was launched. Danielle's super excited at the response from you guys, and the more you guys participate in the drops, the easier it is for her to convince these great companies to work with the group (OSB, Orion, Red Wing/Irish Setter for example).
For posterity, here's a picture taken from our internal metrics page that that shows you guys blowing up the drop :P
(The red lines signify the price-drop quantities, and usually the x-axis is measured in days, not hours!)
I joined this drop because I needed a belt. After placing the order, I found out the company's name is the slogan for the Communist Party USA (cpusa.org). I inquired on the company website if this is just a coincidence or if he had any affiliation with the party, with no response. I will be cancelling my order.
John_GoodManI expect our friends at MD don't want us to turn this into a political discussion.... so, despite my initial reflex, I'm gonna just shut up about it...
Ya those things are call a hobby. Full grain leather belt blanks are less than $20, if you don't like to DIY is another story. They are selling these belts at $70 if it wasnt for massdrop
Hi everyone! We wanted to address the concerns regarding sizing for this belt.
We have updated the main page to reflect the proper sizing information that states you should size up at least one size over to have the belt fit properly. For example, I’m a size 34 in pants, I’d go with the size 36 on these belts.
We apologize for any inconvenience and confusion, and hope everyone can get on this great deal at the proper size. Thanks!
any help here Massdrop support? Orion support says:
"If you purchased it as part of Massdrop order, I'm afraid we can not exchange those belts. We work with Massdrop on a wholesale basis, and do not handle individual orders for Massdrop customers.
Thanks,"
TomasVIt's been my experience that every one of these custom belt makers tell the potential buyer to move up to the next size for the belt using you pants size as the starting point. Makes no difference on this whether the leather is latigo, harness or bridle. So if your pants size is 32, you would buy the belt in size 34. If you're size 34, you would order the belt in size 36 and so on. The stiffer the leather, say for a gun belt, the more important is getting the size right. If you did happen to order one in a size too small and you can't return it or don't intend to give it away but rather to wear it, the only viable solution is to take it to a leather or shoe shop where and extra hole can be punched closer to the tip of the belt but at the same distance apart as the prior holes. This only takes a minute and any sign of it can be treated with a little touch up dye. Of course, the belt won't reach quite as far through the belt loops of your pants. But it works. I've done it for friends.
Hello,
I am writing because it has been since April 24th that the drop has ended. It has been five weeks and I have not received my belt or any communication from the company. I am worried that this may be a scam and I just lost money. I called my credit card company to start the process of disputing the charge. I recommend everyone else does the same, and be more careful on the internet in the future.
I'm curious. I just got my belt from the last fully subscribed drop. It was $38 plus tax and shipping. The only diff, this belt is 1.5" wide and the previous drop was 1 3/8". Can I return my belt and have MD send it back plus the difference in price? Other than that I love the belt.
Definitely size up. I have a 30 Sunset Brown from the last drop, and it's not a great fit, but 32 was perfect. Anyone interested in my size 30 please inquire.
