My pair has a defect and I sent an email to the customer service only to get a generic stock message saying that the customer service was overloaded back. Does anyone know how I can get a replacement pair?

Gabe-realDid you write to OSTRYs customer service or to MDs ? As far as I know, Massdrop Support will help you in this case, it may take a day or two for them to reply. Don't panic ;-) P.S. What kind of defect do you have, would you mind to share it with the community?

SPXSTYLEI sent an email about a week ago to MD, but they haven't responded yet. The problem is that the left earpiece often crackles if i'm walking or moving while wearing them. I diagnosed the problem to be my Iphone but i also tried with my Ipod but the problem still persisted. Its similar to when you listen to an old radio show and you hear the crackling going on in the background. Thats what I hear when I move while wearing these headphones. Edit: Massdrop has now responded to my help email, so mine will be swapped for replacements shortly.

Gabe-realIs anyone else experiencing thus static as well while moving? Think it might be due to the KC06's being such a highly sensitive pair of earphone - so electrostatic cause by friction while moving causes disturbances that could be heard from the earphones. Could anyone confirm if this is the case?

meeechullWhile it is possible that static is the reason, I dont believe this is a probable soloution. However somthing that would be interesting to note is the fact that i only experienced the static on my portable devices and while moving, so that is some evidence

Gabe-realYerh I've also experienced the same. I'm sitting on the fence about contacting MD as well asking for a replacement pair, but if all Ostry KC06's are like this then there is no point. Nonetheless pretty happy with the sound quality!

meeechullMy replacement pair is going to arrive today or friday so ill do some tests and try to isolate the problem. Maybe spraying on some of that anti-static stuff on to the wire would make a difference? Ill figure it out when I get mine. The sound quality is just too good to throw in the towel on these buds.

meeechullSo I got my replacement pair and I still got the static. However it was present both times in the same exact situation. I guess its just picking static up from my coat. Im wondering, how did the anti-static spray work?

Gabe-realIt sounds like microphonics to me. The cables moving creates sound when rubbing against each other or another object.
Microphonics or microphony describes the phenomenon wherein certain components in electronic devices transform mechanical vibrations into an undesired electrical signal (noise). The term comes from analogy with a microphone, which is intentionally designed to convert vibrations to electrical signals.

red71rumI know what microphonics sound like and these certainly are not microphonics. Its not a thuddy or bumping sound, but sounds more like when you put on a sweater and hear the static electricity being generated. I used this analogy earlier but... Go listen to an old radio show from the 30's. All that crackling going on is what I hear through these headphones. And it is so loud that it makes them almost unlistenable. However, this only occurs in one coat in one pocket. My feeling is that it is picking up static from rubbing on the material of the pocket. However. I could be wrong.

Gabe-realOh that is too bad. I have never had that problem, strange. Of course I do not own any Ostry, just 4 other pairs of IEMs, such as the UE TF10.

red71rumYeah, its strange because ive never had this problem with any other pair of earbuds OR headphones plugged into my iphone. Although it only happened in one coat, so I guess it wouldnt be a problem unless you own the exact same coat.
