Otaku Kiibodo Keyset, Inspired by Japan

Otaku: It’s a Japanese term used to describe someone with an obsessive interest. It’s also used to describe a blank keyboard without visible legends. So it makes perfect sense that Aaron Hong, mechanical keyboard enthusiast, would create the Otaku Kiibodo Keyset. The result: a clean and simple set inspired by different aspects of Japan and Japanese culture.

Note: This keycap set is broken into smaller pieces to allow for more modularity. All packs include only the keys pictured. We started this drop at a lower base quantity - however as more people join pricing will be adjusted to account for that.

To avoid errors/confusion with the current checkout system, we will be changing the drop points manually for this drop. We are paying attention to the number of each child deal being bought as well. If they reach certain quantities, we will adjust their prices accordingly. You may notice fluctuations in your checkout price as we make these adjustments on the back end, but you will not be charged more for anything.

Base Kits (Katakana / Hiragana)

PBT Plastic, Dye-Sub Legends, DSA Profile

Made of PBT plastic by Signature Plastics, these keycaps might as well be blank, as they feature dye-sublimated Japanese legends that many English speakers wouldn’t understand. Featuring a DSA profile, the set was originally designed in different colors. But thanks to a suggestion on Geekhack, Aaron modified the colors to red and aged white—a tribute to Japan’s national flag. Perhaps most notable is its dual functionality: In Kana input mode, the Otaku Kiibodo keyset works with a Japanese layout.
