Germany’s Black Forest is known not only for its enchanting landscapes but also for its rich history of silver and gold mining. So it comes as little surprise that Otto Hutt chose Pforzheim, just outside the Black Forest, to establish himself as a purveyor of fine silver writing instruments. That was 1920, when Germany’s Bauhaus Movement was a dominating force in design. Today, Otto Hutt’s namesake company has earned a reputation the world over as a craft producer of minimalistic yet beautiful and functional sterling silver pens.
Note: At checkout, choose either the Design 4 Code or the Design 4 White Square Guilloche. You’ll also have your choice of nib size: Fine, Medium, or Broad.
Otto Hutt’s Design 4—available on this drop with the Code barrel or the White Square Guilloche barrel—features a screw-cap design with spring-loaded pocket clip and an intricately engraved nib made in Germany of stainless steel. And while their shapes are the same, their build materials are not. The Code, which features a black-and-palladium pattern on the barrel, is fitted with a palladium-plated cap and accents. The White Square Guilloche, with its textured white lacquer barrel, comes with a 925 sterling silver cap and platinum-plated accents. Both come in a black gift box with a cartridge, converter, and microfiber cloth.
