I can understand your skepticism. Most people don't believe it either.
Basically, if you are using $3 ear buds, then no, it won't sound the same as high end speakers. But I think most people will agree that getting true "high end" sound from headphones is a LOT easier and more affordable than getting the same quality sound out of speakers. Just look at the most expensive headphones: Stax SR-009, Abyss AB-1266, etc. We are talking about the best, most expensive headphones and they are "only" $5000. For speakers, that is nothing.
So, the better the headphones, the more accurate reproduction of the speaker systems. But many people have pretty good sounding headphone rigs these days. These rigs are arguably much better sounding than most people's speaker systems. So you can get pretty close to the sound of these megabuck speakers with a good headphone rig.
But with cheap headphones, you still get the effect of the sound coming from way outside your head. You will hear the speakers exactly where they were when I measured them. Sure the sound quality may be limited by your headphones, but at least you can still get the sound out of your head and hear a full 7.1 speaker setup even with cheap headphones.
For demos, I often use a pair of $40 Koss PortaPro headphones and they work great!
The bottom line is that the beauty of software is that you can try it for yourself and judge for yourself if you think it works or not. It's not for everyone's tastes, but even if you don't like it for critical music listening, I can assure you it's the best way to watch movies.
When I demo the software, almost everyone says, "Holy Cr@p!" when they hear it. Really.

Darin_Fong_AudioBasically, you need $5000 headphones to fully utilize this software. Got it.

AnzialUmm... I didn't say that at all. What I meant was that great sounding headphones are a lot more accessible than great sounding speakers. Therefore even modest headphones can get you close to the sound of high end speakers.
The point was that you don't need top of the line headphones at all. It even works using Apple earpods.
Sorry if I was not clear before.
