What was the preset used for the Hotel California demo? Did you use stereo files?
Also, can anyone else using the trial with the HD800 comment on your favorite preset? Most sound heavily colored except the Acoustic Zen and AZen Maestro.
The Hotel California preset was the Acoustic Zen preset. The original source is a 5.1 mix of Hotel California from a DVD Audio disk ripped to a 5.1 FLAC file.
I have HD800's. Because they are bright headphones, some presets will sound possibly too bright. I assume that's what you mean by "colored". My favorite presets with the HD800's are the Acoustic Zen or Acoustic Zen Maestro for the HD800's, as you have found.
Joined, really enjoying the Acoustic Zen!
The Maestro preset is too bass heavy IMO compared to Crescendo.
EDIT: Have you ever encountered issues with Windows 8 setting the default device to OOYH and crashing the program? It seems to happen when I switch too much.
Thanks for joining/purchasing this Massdrop!
I have encountered machines where Out Of Your Head will crash if you switch presets too fast or sometimes when switching between the Bypass setting and other presets. I have not been able to duplicate the problem on any of my systems, but when this problem does occur, usually it is intermittent and can often be rectified by rebooting the system.
I am working on trying to replicate the problem so our programmers can figure it out. But with hundreds of people downloading and installing the trial, I think this problem is somewhat rare.
Hi, can you tell me what the jazz and classical pieces you used for the samples on the Massdrop product description page are?
The jazz piece is a song by my friend, Charlie Hunter called "Mean Streak": http://www.amazon.com/Mean-Streak/dp/B000THEKMI#
The classical piece is from Stravinsky's Firebird Suite: Infernal Dance of King Kastchei. I can't remember which recording I used for that sample. (I have several).
