> "[T]hanks to the external fly fastener and Derlin single-pole system, you'll have enough headspace to sit up inside the bivy." The stated dimensions are 82 in x 26 in x 20 in. If we assume that 82 is the length, that leaves us with 26 inches or 20 inches as the height and the other as the width. If we're charitable, we could accept a height of 26 inches (though shoulder width of 20 inches sounds sparse). I'm nearly 6 feet, so 70-ish inches. When I sit up, I bend at the waist, slightly less than halfway between my head and my toes ... say, somewhere between about 30 and 33 inches. I have no idea whom this bivy is marketed for where 26 inches is sufficient headspace to sit up comfortably. Or 20 inches, either way. Even the picture of the person sitting up seems to show their head and torso extending past the peak of the "Derlin" pole.

I can't find the stargazer bivy on the OR-website. Is the Interstellar the next generation & stargazer last years main bivy?

fmfdlrhttps://www.outdoorresearch.com/blog/article/which-bivy-is-right-for-you The interstellar has the arm zips and the 'sombrero' - other than that the stargazer is lighter and uses the same fabric.

Ah, yes, thank you! I don`t need the sombrero & the armholes and 51 gram less is quite something. Still I wonder why OR don't sell it on their website...

After much hesitation, I finally ordered this product. I wish this bivy sack could be well utilized in my micro adventure.

Exactly how waterproof is this in comparison to the OR helium bivy? The helium bivy claims to be waterproof but wets through in the rain.

From what I've heard, the old Helium bivy just wasn't waterproof enough once enoigh pressure was applied. It wasn't due to condensation.

MrJenssenI have a helium jacket and after prolonged rain/wet snow it wets through. I think Pertex is great for short showers, but not hours of rain.
