Is it good as ski jacket? Water insulated? Thanks!

Sergey93This is not a ski jacket by its self, and I can promise you that you will be soaked if this is all you are wearing on the hill. However, this would be perfect under a good technical shell for staying nice and warm on cold days while skiing. :)

For 6'3'' / 185lb, is a l or xl a better fit?

How well would this layer under the Foray?
I'd be interested if there was a jacket made with primaloft or some other non-down insulation. Aside from allergy to down, I'm also not really into being warm at the expense of some goose or duck having it's feathers torn from it's skin.

I can get this elsewhere for $20 less, and price is not dependent on multiple purchasers. Why would I choose Massdrop?

NoReason24An 8-week delay on deals won't help your situation. It was most likely on the direct OR website. They have marked down gear on there all the time.
Just got mine today. I ordered a large, I need an XL anyone need to trade a large for an XL?

And as stepbystep said the times I've had this happen were not a limited quantity thing... Atleast not to my knowledge... You guys are usually pretty good about making that clear....

Glad you enjoy Massdrop! Optimizing our experience is something we're always working towards and feedback from our users is very helpful, so again thanks! If you have design feedback in the future, feel free to message us at design@massdrop.com
It is helpful to know that you only use Massdrop on mobile. We're keenly aware that a better mobile experience is important to many users and is something we're constantly working on.
Cheers!

Anyone who has this jacket have an opinion on fill loft? Looking at the pictures I'm not impressed, to be honest. I have an Eddie Bauer First Ascent sweater and the loft is much greater than this.

SantiagoDracoHard to go by photos sometimes since you don't know how it was packed/shipped and how long it's been sitting out to normalize and plump up (shaking and fluffing only do so much...still needs some time to acclimatize, so to speak). It uses 3.5oz of down, but it's 650 power so it's not going to be quite as poofy. It's got decent warmth. 650 has some advantages over higher fill powers sometimes, too, because it's a little more resistant to compression. This jacket also uses a heavier taffeta fabric for the lining (40d I think) and that comes into play as well (warmth retention, durability, and another ounce or so of weight). Warmthwise it's kind of like a heavier less expensive version of the more expensive ultralight pieces like the Ghost Whisperer, etc, etc. Probably will not want to wear it while moving until it's below freezing and at rest it should be comfy to around freezing depending on your layers.

SantiagoDracoI've owned a four-year old hoodless version of this jacket, and it's just now wearing out. I've been using it in deep cold, in the outdoors, and while doing wilderness backpacking in below-freezing temperatures. Assuming the design hasn't changed, and it doesn't appear to have, I can comment on the loft and warmth.
I like the jacket a lot, but yes, it isn't the 'loftiest' down jacket out there. I think this is a good thing, if you use it appropriately. This jacket has provided me more warmth but less breathability than a patagonia nano-puff, and more breathability but less warmth than the Sierra Designs puffy I use for the coldest temperatures. This is a mid-weight puffy, and of course you can find puffies in a bunch of different weights for different purposes. I don't think you'd be well served by simply buying the jacket with the most loft you can find...
If you can describe how you hope to use the jacket I'm sure folks can help say if this is a good choice, but all I can say is that I've enjoyed using this jacket while snowshoeing, backpacking and being outdoors during the daytime at temps below 20deg. I'll also throw this jacket on when the sun sets while I'm backpacking with daytime highs around 30-35deg. I've sometimes brought this jacket for sleeping or insurance when nighttime temps get down to 35-40deg. Again, assuming no major changes, this jacket has served those purposes nicely. It is breaking down a little faster than I'd hoped, but overall I think I've gotten good value for my purchase. Of course, all IMO, FWIW, and accept this feedback at your discretion! ;o) (edit: oh, and hopefully this goes without saying, but all the uses I described above were as part of a layering system... So I don't mean I wore the jacket and was otherwise naked...)

Really want in on this drop, but want the Evergreen or Pewter color in the Sweater, non hoody. Any chance of these colors being added to the drop?
