Perhaps the smallest projector in the world, the P6 Smart Pico is less than 2 inches any way you measure it—but don’t let that fool you. Though small, it’s mighty in many ways Read More
" 640 x 480 / 1080P " This drop needs to be just freakin deleted, this company is pulling some serious wool over massdrops eyes, this thing is a piece of junk. Theres seriously mini projectors on Wish for half the price and better specs
Some things to know about this projector before dropping $219:
-1080p in the title is deceptive and misleading. It simply means the projector can accept a 1080p input signal. The projector is native VGA resolution (640x480), an OLD 4:3 resolution. That means your 1920x1080 blu-ray signal is going to get compressed and displayed with letterboxing at a meager 640x360 resolution. Yuck.
-This projector is 80 lumens. That's laughably low. Now this spec is a little tricky as every projection enviromnment is different in terms of lighting, so your mileage may vary, but in general I'd say expect a washed out, dim image in most usage scenarios. I'm gonna get a little math-ey, so bear with me. As a general rule, different environments have different target foot-lambert levels you want to meet in order to get a viewable image. The lowest ideal foot lambert level would be a movie theater at 19 foot lamberts, as you have zero ambient light.
Foot lamberts are calculated by dividing the lumen output of the projector by the square footage of the viewing area. We know we want 19 foot lamberts and have 80 lumens of brightness.
80/x = 19
x = 4.2 sq. ft.
The specs on this projector say you can create an image up to 120" diagonally. That equates to a 6'x 8' image, or 48 sq. ft. Really, that spec just means that the lens can maintain focus at that size, but you wouldn't be able to tell anyways because the image would be so dim. Realistically in a completely dark room, you'd have an image between 2'-3' wide.
This projector is a gadget, a toy. FAR superior projectors can be had for not much more money. They won't be handheld units, but they'll still be portable, and more importantly actually be usable in the real world. My advice would be to skip this drop and look at Optoma projectors on Amazon.
willparry79I thought it was weird as heck that it says "640 x 480 / 1080P " thats incredibly deceiving. If you want a 480p mini projector im pretty sure Wish sells them for like 100 bucks...
willparry79Thanks for this. I thought the specs looked a bit suspect, but I don't really know enough about projectors to know if they are bad or I'm just ignorant. I've been looking for something for my backyard, but I guess I'll just have to suck it up and pay the big bucks for something actually good.
