I've played the game for several years now and find it extremely fun and engaging. Minis can be a challenge to build but their quality and detail are very good if you have the patience. Most of the criticism is for the Kickstarter and not the game itself.

RedDukeFunny thing is RedDuke. You have no other profile history other than on this game, and funny enough, every other person in the world hates this game. I have seen enough YouTube videos to think something is up with what you are saying. Not saying you work for the company, but something about your comment is fishy.

RedDukeYes I for sure can, look through my history. Notice I have been on this site, other than just this item. Also, I can start throwing links to honest reviews on Youtube to backers of the product. If you are so passionate about the item, show us a non-biased video of your review. :)

zerosdeathActually you are wrong on one very critical point, not everyone hates this game. I enjoy it and several others from my gaming group enjoy it. Whether I'm associated with the game or not.. doesn't matter. I play as often as I can and hold events to play more. I would rather build a community to play with and give facts about the game than troll others to not play a game because of a company that tried to produce it.. If you watch those videos, are they commenting on the game or the company?... I'm done here..

RedDukeHonestly, whether you work for the company or not, makes all the difference in the world. It means you are biased. It's why I couldn't write a review about a product I am associated with. I have seen reviews about the game, and the company that produced the game. So, not everyone dislikes the game, okay. However, the pieces are very difficult to put together, and they don't look that great. I am glad you and your crew like the game. Does that detract from the fact this game is not what was promised, no. Is the game still for the most part, by most people hated, yes. I love the Robotech series. This game did not do Robotech the service it deserves. Honestly, if this game went sub 30 I would even consider picking it up for myself for the nostalgia. At this price point, I don't see it worth it, and wanted to state my opinion to others as to what I saw while looking up background on the game.
This is a discussion, if you are done, that is understandable. When I see overwhelmingly negative reviews on a game, I want to let others know. That also is not just on the company, it is on the game itself. If you work for or are associated with it, you should let others know your association.

zerosdeathThanks! It also seems to back up what the other guy said. A lot of it is around the kickstarter and palladium. A few negative ones around balancing, but nothing much about the rules. The minis are like scale minatures rather than miniatures for a game and take a lot to get together, which is disappointing. Also a lack of variety because of the fact that the miniatures were unfinished, i.e. no more were released before the game was called, and the fact that there is no support and refinement of the rules.
The individual miniatures don't look _bad_. Not good either, though.

ChuckDeeHmmm...
" That's another place where, unfortunately, this game falls flat. The miniatures come in a TON of pieces. Even the heads of the Veritech fighters come in two pieces. They are also made of some weird type of plastic, which makes assembly difficult. You *can* put these minis together with model glue, but the plastic is at the same time both bendy and brittle. There are absurdly tiny pieces, too. You will be using tweezers regularly to put these minis together. One would think that a company would have the sense to put less complex and frustrating minis in with the starter, but not Palladium Books. I am not kidding when I say that you need to be an experienced modeler with a passion for the show to appreciate this game. I am both, and I'm sad to see this disappoint as it has. "
" The miniatures for some models that stand 1" high come in 25+ pieces that are lacking in detail and require tweezers to handle. The forces are unbalanced towards the USDF, but that doesn't matter as the USDF player will never be able to build a force of miniatures. Not only are they fiddly to build, but for the Veritechs, you need to build three models per Veritech, then do that 30 times over. The model molds were cut using 1970's model kit manufacturing methods "
As far as the rules, I would actually expect the imbalance if all they have are pods vs veritechs. It was unbalanced in the show too until the more advanced troops were available.
But, it looks like more trouble than it's worth if the miniatures are that complicated.

ChuckDee I can't disagree with your comments. Something about this game just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Especially knowing that some will spend money, and they will never see an expansion to this game, or even truly supported the way it should. Again, i love Robotech, but I think the fans deserve a game better than this. If this game were a little cheaper I would get it, but 30 for just a collector's item, no thanks. Heck I didn't even mind putting together the Shadows of Brimstone pieces, this is crazy though. Thanks for the further research dude.

RedDukeYour picture doesn't show just pods as it appears everywhere else. I haven't been able to find an accurate accounting of what exactly is included. Can you take a picture of just the miniatures that are in the set being offered here?

RedDukeOh for those of you who don't know Red Duke is Thomas Roache one of the people behind the game with Palladium Books. and wouldn't be surprised if this is his stock, or stock from Palladium he is selling for them.

ChuckDeewell yeah the minis look ok when they are built and painted, if done by someone with experience, I know i've assembled a few hundred of these buggers, but on the other hand the hard part is building them, also the lack of available models makes it a poor point too.

scrappydoo Wow Scrappy, you know who I am, but just to let you know and make sure you have your "facts" correct... I had the original IDEA for the Robotech game and took that idea to Palladium. In fact I never actually was employed by Palladium. I was in fact an adviser on the rules and such and ran Demos.. Also, Ninja Division made all the minis for the game and they made the decisions on how the minis were constructed . I do have my stock of minis and painted units and I never plan to get rid of them because I enjoy and play the game. I try to play as often as I can. Plus I never had any issues putting the minis together... I guess we will have to disagree on that point. I find this massdrop a good deal and If I had some spare cash I would definitely go in on this. Besides what does it matter who I work for or If I play and enjoy a game and want to let people know about it.. I'm proud of the game and the rules. I'm not proud of how some people act because of the kickstarter. Thomas Roache - Red Duke

ThomasRoacheOh I know all about you and know a whole lot more about this game then even you let on, i know what the original mech designs by Ninja Division looked like, I know all about Kevin wanting to cut corners, and also wanting to rob Peter to pay Paul, I also know about Kevin's begging to HG to keep the license., but I digress here, my ire is not with Palladium per se, albeit they are not high on my goody list, but more about the mechanics of the game, the lack of balance to the game, and the way they decided to go cheap on the minis.

ThomasRoacheThomas, why when I mentioned before if you had an association to the game did you not state that. If you worked for Palladium or not does not matter, but you were associated with the game. Seems highly dishonest to not mention what association you had. Seems like you do have something to gain from this. Funny when I mentioned that before you went silent. Thank you scrappy for enlightening us on this issue, and it seems my initial hunch was right.

zerosdeathZero, Why would I intentionally put a target on my back? Because there are people who think they know what happened(see above) And if I stated that I was associated with palladium and with the game rules, I would get blasted by trolls and people who believe what they read on the internet. I don’t need to get into another argument with a troll or PB hater. I know what I know, about everything that happened with the KS, beyond Any NDA or anything that’s ever been posted. All I ever wanted was a Robotech Tabletop game, to a degree that happened, and l’m grateful to PB for that. But having people say that PB was at fault when I know what actually happened makes me not speak up too often

ThomasRoacheWhy would you make that assertion before you even knew the outcome? I wasn't going to troll you, but I would have liked to hear your side of the story from the beginning knowing your association and bias.To me, it feels like your making an excuse for the lies. Thomas, this kind of behavior is wrong. Even with your association to the game, you have a right to say whatever the heck you want. I honestly don't think anyone would have trolled you, but imagine the credibility you lost now. Should have been honest in the first place. I am not trying to troll you, but what in the world? you can say what you want, but that is a weak argument. Good luck man.
