Just got my M200 Pelikan. It was packed well and loved the special edition box. Inked it and it writes smooth. Knowing what I was dealing with I had ordered a medium bib and its smooth and wires great. The ink - smoky quartz is absolutely fabulous !!! I had done my research before choosing the right size (medium for mine) and that worked well for me.
My suggestion for folks would be that; if you know what nib you want in this brand - then go ahead and order it. Don’t guess and order it based on your past experience with another fountain pen brand. Try it out at a local store and once know what nib works for you then you can order it here

Very beautiful dark brown translucent pen.
It was packaged in a white box with the 50 ml Smoky Quartz ink bottle.
I didn't find any paperwork included, but at $50 off typical retail price I can live with it.
I've yet to ink it up, but I suspect it will be fine. If not , a little tuning should help. It is a small pen but posted the length is fine for a man’s hand, though a little slim.
Having this pen is leading me to buy either an M600 or even larger M800. I really want to try the solid gold nib of the more expensive Pelikans. Overall, I think a good buy

Very nice pen & ink, writes flawlessly
My first fountain pen. Piston filling was a breeze. Pen writes flawlessly straight out of the box. Cannot say how smooth it is as I do not have any prior experience with fountain pens. All I can say is that it exceeded all my expectations and it is very pleasurable to use.
Ink is a perfect match with the pen and diffuses with a nice shading.
I removed 1 star because the ink bottle came in silver color logo & lettering contrary to the description that this SE boxset comes in gold color. (refer to attached photo of my boxset)

I have a fair number of fountain pens and Pelikan is my favorite brand. I generally only use pens with a piston filled reservoir, as I'm not a fan of either cartridges or converters (I have some but rarely use them). I did buy a 14k fine gold nib for this 200; it's definitely a worthwhile investment, as it really takes the pen to the next level (very simple screw in & out process for installation).

I am very disappointed in this pen. I have several Pelikans and they are all wonderful. This one is not. The nib is constantly skipping on down strokes and is thus very hard to write with. I have "flossed" it with brass sheets and tried other things. Nothing seems to fix it. Beautiful pen, but not usable in it's present condition. I contacted Pelikan and was told it does not qualify for service since Massdrop is not an authorized dealer. I contacted Massdrop and was told it was beyond the 30 days that would qualify for a return (I foolishly had hoped using it for a few weeks I might be able to get it working). I won't purchase another Pelikan from Massdrop.

I have the same experience with Medium.
Edit: Neither Pelikan nor Massdrop care.
Pelikan didn't care, they didn't even acknowledge my support letter. Massdrop on the other hand were exceptional in rectifying the situation by offering a replacement or a return/refund.

Scratchy nib what a waste
Nice presentation box. I just opened the pen to join my rotation and was severely disappointed! The nib is so scratchy it's unusable, and this has never happened to me with any of my other Pelikans!

Nice pen, feeds well, great size.
Just got this yesterday, and I love it. Feels great in my hand, nib glides smoothly, ink flows perfectly out of the box, filling mechanism worked perfectly. I have 0 problems with this pen, it's awesome!

A very nice pen. Classy and warm brown color. The nib is smooth and wet but it has considerable and pleasant feedback (fine nib). Can't wait to write again with this pen.
