Beautiful and cheap.
It writes very smoothly. Because it is a limited edition, it has collectible value and the design is beautiful.

Scratchy nib what a waste
Nice presentation box. I just opened the pen to join my rotation and was severely disappointed! The nib is so scratchy it's unusable, and this has never happened to me with any of my other Pelikans!

Very nice pen & ink, writes flawlessly
My first fountain pen. Piston filling was a breeze. Pen writes flawlessly straight out of the box. Cannot say how smooth it is as I do not have any prior experience with fountain pens. All I can say is that it exceeded all my expectations and it is very pleasurable to use. Ink is a perfect match with the pen and diffuses with a nice shading. I removed 1 star because the ink bottle came in silver color logo & lettering contrary to the description that this SE boxset comes in gold color. (refer to attached photo of my boxset)

I should have bought the pen & ink separately (i.e, non SE from other sellers) so that the pen will include a pen pouch. Ordering this SE meant that it comes with a throwaway box without the pen pouch and the ink bottle with gold color logo & lettering. (But mine came with silver color which is for non SE). Minor but still a disappointment nonetheless.

Nice pen, feeds well, great size.
Just got this yesterday, and I love it. Feels great in my hand, nib glides smoothly, ink flows perfectly out of the box, filling mechanism worked perfectly. I have 0 problems with this pen, it's awesome!

A very nice pen. Classy and warm brown color. The nib is smooth and wet but it has considerable and pleasant feedback (fine nib). Can't wait to write again with this pen.

Great quality for the price. Smaller than I thought it would be, but not a problem. Smooth writing and very comfortable. Love the ink. As I said - its a great value.

I am very disappointed in this pen. I have several Pelikans and they are all wonderful. This one is not. The nib is constantly skipping on down strokes and is thus very hard to write with. I have "flossed" it with brass sheets and tried other things. Nothing seems to fix it. Beautiful pen, but not usable in it's present condition. I contacted Pelikan and was told it does not qualify for service since Massdrop is not an authorized dealer. I contacted Massdrop and was told it was beyond the 30 days that would qualify for a return (I foolishly had hoped using it for a few weeks I might be able to get it working). I won't purchase another Pelikan from Massdrop.

I see.. very unfortunate indeed. But if you're interested to get your pen working you can order from https://nibsmith.com/product/pelikan-m200-nib-unit/. Hope this helps

I have the same experience with Medium. Edit: Neither Pelikan nor Massdrop care. Pelikan didn't care, they didn't even acknowledge my support letter. Massdrop on the other hand were exceptional in rectifying the situation by offering a replacement or a return/refund.

Pelikan Pens keeps living up to their great reputation. The smoky ink color is nice on various papers and the pen writes great. I got the M nib and it is nice. I have several Pelikan pens from early 80's to this one. Just a well made brand and good customer service too.

Ink is beautiful, pen is beautiful. The rest is horrible. The rest is quite a different matter. Now, I'm new and I'm giving it a benefit of the doubt, but for some weirdest reason when I write, quite often, the first stroke of a letter is skipped (I write in cursive, so it is usually first stroke of a first letter of every second or third word). I have three other pens (Pilot Metropolitan (M nib) and two FPR Himalayas (M nib & Flex nib)) and none of them does that, so the chance that the culprit is my style of writing or my grip or whatever is quite slim. Pressing a bit harder on the pen helps (although not 100%) with the problem, but at the same time makes my hand cramp much faster than normal writing. Edit: No change after several pages of writing. I feel that this is completely unacceptable for a pen at this price point. Edit2: After some tinkering, careful tines alignment and flossing and washing, casting spells and cursing the hell out of Pelikan I managed to improve writing a bit. It still hard starts (almost 100% percent of the time, even after short rest, say 20-30 seconds capped), it still skips from time to time (like once every one or two sentences) and it still feels like cheap garbage, well at least I think it does, because all my cheap pens are very nice and don't have any of the mentioned problems. I've tried writing to Pelikan support - they didn't even answer. Keep clear, this Pelikan sucks as a company to give money to.

Edit3: In contrast Massdrop was amazing in handling this they promptly answered my support request and fixed the situation by sending me a replacement, which writes much better than the first one, still not my favourite, but I'd give it 4- out of 5 (B- for US folk). I'm not changing this review score though, because (I know I'm repeating myself) when you pay upwards of $100 for a plastic pen with stainless steel nib you should expect a quality product and support or at least a show of care from manufacturer. Pelikan just doesn't deliver. There are companies out there that do and for a much cheaper products, look at FPR for example.

AlexCzarThe issue is not your handwriting. It’s unfortunate that your nib is having issues. I would recommend purchasing some brass sheets (look online for nib tuning supplies) and floss the nib. When I have pens that aren’t writing well, I always floss the nib. Flossing usually clears up the issue. However, sometimes I use the brass sheet to separate the nib a little (practice on cheaper pens first) which helps increase flow. If that doesn’t work, your nib has issues and will require repair. Out of all the pens I have, I’ve only had to have two pens sent off for nib issues that I couldn’t fix. The brass sheet tutorials online are really helpful.

DonnieDelawareThank you for the suggestion, I've tried that and a bit of flossing and careful nib alignment helped to a point, but it is still the worst and the most unreliable pen I own in terms of writing experience, it still skips from time to time, it ALWAYS hard starts and just is not pleasant to use. I consider this unacceptable, if a pen costs $100+ it should've gone through quality control and should have arrived flawless. I do not believe the materials and the manufacturing process of M200 can account for its price tag. I would've understood if the materials on this pen were something extraordinary and they wanted to keep the price down, but for a plastic pen with a stainless nib for $100+ not to be a flawless writer - it is a scam.
