rbb9I am not sure if it makes a difference for you, but I thought I would point out that Pelikan nibs typically run a bit wider than usual. I don't normally use X-fine nibs, but I have two in the 800 series with X-Fine and they are more like fine. YMMW.
rbb9I had a steel EF nib on a Pelikan 205 and I found it not only terrific but better than the fine gold nib I had on a 405 and 605. Pelikan nibs, in general, are wonderfully smooth and wet. So I don't know what holds you back from the extra fine, but note that this isn't like a gold Pilot extra fine (e.g.), which is MUCH finer.
mtozsuVery true. I have an M805 medium and it is one of my absolute favorites. There is definite YMMV though from all I've read. I would consider getting a fine nib for this price and taking my chances, but extra fine? Too much of a long shot especially for this price
rbb9Pelikan pens bought from official distributors are eligible for their nib exchange program. Doubt MD is an official distributor but it might be worth checking.
