Product Description
First produced by Pelikan in the early ‘90s, the New Classic P381 features a brass body with a red marble lacquered finish and a notably slender design. The gold-plated clip and trim complement the 14-karat-gold broad nib Read More
Mltv1016I read the reply below that we can only do so "only by replacing the entire nib and grip section". However, can we trouble the administrator to check if its still possible to change it to fine/extra fine nib? Thank you.
Also, to add to writerstephen, this is only a Broad nib. I have only one Pelikan, the M200 SE Smoky Quartz. It is a steel Fine nib. Writes wet. (I have Pelikan Edelstein Smoky Quartz in it.) So I wouldn't advise this being your first gold nib pen. If you like Broad nibs, then it's a good buy. If you have larger hands, you might not like how slim this pen it.
A couple caveats/facts about this pen (which I picked up on the last drop):
--It is veeeeerrrrrrryyyyy (I mean very) slim, skinny, thin, pick your moniker. Like just thicker than the converter skinny. Just so you know.
--Mine has flow issues, like a lot of others have reported. Because the nib is so slim, and the tip so broad, it behaves almost like a stub.
--It is a very smooth nib. Also very flexible with respectable line variation. If you can keep it from railroading. Use wet ink.
It posts very well and is well balanced.
My opinion: If you don't have any 14k nibs in your collection or if you are a fountain pen newbie, i wouldn't start here.
