OK. Anyone else get one with blue or green stipes? Are the stripes straight? Mine are not.

mpechnerIts an optical illusion caused by the curvature of the barrel. There's two barrels, the outer is clear and the inner has the stripes. I'm definitely sure mine looks curved, but it's perfectly curved so looks rather nice.
On another note, I got mine in the mail today. Very disappointed with receiving a defective nib, hard starting issue. I've shot an email with massdrop to see what the warranty procedures are (I'm overseas so it's quite a pain).

chris_n26The striations on each barrel do vary, and none of them are perfectly straight from end to end, due to the curvature of the barrel...this adds to the beauty of each pen! This may help with hard-starting issues: try filling the new pen using the "proper" PELIKAN filling method, and using PELIKAN fountain pen ink. The service center located closest to you can be found in each WARRANTY BOOKLET found in the bottom of the box (see worldwide list) contact the one closest to you for assistance.

StormyPelikanThanks for your suggestions. I tried it all and the pen is an otherwise excellent writer, except for the extremely random hard start. Unfortunately there's no Australian contact list on the booklet included. I'll see what massdrop has to say about warranty, most likely it will need to be sent to chartpack.
