The PERIAPT brand was started by a team of IT specialists who wanted a better replacement headphone cable for music enjoyment during long days on the job. After finding that most cables were either too expensive or inexpensive but poorly built, they set out to make their own affordable, high-quality solutions Read More
After all my experiences in mid-fi land, the hd600 are by far my favorite headphone I've heard thus far with a ceiling that I don't think I'm very close to hearing yet, especially after getting this cable. I received my cable today and replaced the stock cable that came with my hd600, immediately the headphone sounded different and I was a little put off because I liked the sound I had! Initially I could tell without a doubt my hd600 (I bought it new on ebay, not directly from sennheiser) was not as sibilant/bright and I felt the imagining/soundstage had improved over stock cables comparing by listening to the New York Phil with Leonard Bernstein. With the stock cables things sounded kind of congested on this recording, admittedly not how I remembered the hd600 sounding before my Xmas break, but regardless, the cable did make a difference while listening via the MCTH.
Now what I'm hearing is much more reminiscent of my experience with the hd6xx on the Schiit stack (Modi Multibit & Magni 3) laid-back and slightly veiled, but these qualities are welcome imo with the neutral presentation of the hd600. Maybe this is a issue with the 1/4 inch jack MCTH unit, maybe the cable is superior, I am inclined to believe the latter.
Aesthetically the cable is beautiful in my opinion, the cable in the picture looked grey-ish to me so I was expecting it to be metal for some reason, but it's a nice braided cloth material and much better length than the stock cable.
TL;DR Sound quality (soundstage, imaging, bass quantity, less sibilance) was improved by this cable in my experience. Love the material and look of the cable, only wish that the hd600 didn't look so strange attached to such a good looking cable. 5/5 would recommend anyone with a Sennheiser hd6XX series headphone to buy this cable

HelpbotHmm what to do I have a Rupert Neve Headphone Amplifier 1 (RNHP-1) & O2+SDAC - they’re its TRS only - no XLR same with my audio interface Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 (in its headphone jack / its not good at driving my HD650s) audio but I do want a nice pair of replacement chords... damnit sick of having to upgrade because the I/Os limited & doesn’t have standard ports! bleh
always feel like I need to drop 10k into my studio just to get it up to speed...if only my bank account could handle it lol 😓Replace something now - 3 new problems/another couple thousand dollar to drop
AMKR4LyfeIf you want a cheap amp/dac combo with an XLR the cth/sdac goes for around around 200 used and that's spectacular value. Solid state the dx7 and Aunes that shows up here and the monoprice thx 788 are the best value for the money.
Very good built and quality cable. Didn't hear any noticeable improvement in sound. But it's not something I would expect from cables in this price range anyway. Just looking for a durable good looking balanced cable that doesn't sound bad.
The overall build quality is nice but for some reason the cables that have combined L and R connectors (like cables for AKG/Beyerdynamics) have significantly worse microphonics.
The cable feels like it will last forever but although it is thick and heavy it does feel like a tank! There is other places you can get affordable custom cables like Periapt, it is all preference and where you live.
Periapt makes high-quality cables for the price. So far I own about 4 of their cables and neither disappoint. These from drop I picked up the black version for my Drop+Fostex TR-X00 Mahagony. The cables are thick and sturdy with a nice fabric. They aren't noisy and don't tangle which is a plus. I find them to be very well constructed. One thing I would like to see in future iterations is if we can choose different types of materials for the wires of the cable instead of only this fabric material. I recommend.
