I believe that this is marketed as having a Perrelet Calibre P-321 in-house movement. Watch Base and others are likely to say that it's a reworked Soprod ETA 2892 replacement; based on / inspired by Seiko 4L. There's no movement semantics hill I'm willing to die on, but from personal experience and talking to watch mavens in NY's diamond district, the movements are excellent and made to a high standard.

Yes, they can trace their watchmaking back to 1777 and some important innovations along the way. All the way…? No. Check the massive gap around The Quartz Crisis for one. They were fine pointing to the watchmaker, Perrelet (Jean Luis, I thin?) or his patents; it's hard to stomach all this obfuscation around origin. I mean, is that zombie (resurrected humanoid meat puppet) REALLY Aunt Clara? Hardly. At this point, V-C is the only one with bragging rights for continuing operation—back to 1755. That is a true claim: there just aren't very many. No integrity in advertising these days. I can stomach names being used, I mean, some watchmakers were inspiring; right? And if there family name is no longer in the modern watch-making world…? That's okay unless you hire an obscure grand-relation to sit on your board (it happens) and claim ownership of a family tradition. I mean, is 'passed down from generation to generation' real or does it mean 'passed down from generation to generation [of foreign investors]'? Sorry for the rant; this stuff just burns my biscuits. PS. Nothing against (The) Zombies: they were a cool band from the '60s. Heck, some of my favourite Presidential Candidates have been zombies, too! And, of course, no zombies, rock bands, or presidential candidates have been harmed in the making of this rant.

Looks like a soprod based movement wonder if the black dial would wear smaller

jumoSoprod: you are correct. I have a higher end complication of theirs and can attest to at least some first class movement finishing.

jumoThe movement is nice, and Perrelet has a good history of paying attention to detail on their finish work (nice dials and cases for sure)...but what's a definite no-go for me is 42.5mm. I'll wear a dive watch that size all day, but that's a tea saucer for a dressier watch, unless you have >7.5" wrists. Admittedly, however, I have 6.75" wrists, so I have a bit of large watch envy.
