With 250 years of watchmaking in its back pocket, Perrelet stands out in the upper tier of watchmakers in business today. The Swiss company’s First Class automatic does its storied name justice. (This drop highlights the 35-millimeter model.) Made up of soft, slim and rounded hands and long stick markers, the dial is dressy and understated. However, it’s also filled with detail with a little closer inspection. The inner dial has an almost granite-like texture to it; the outer dial, which is sectioned off into 12 equal portions, has thin grooves throughout like you’d find on a small shell. Control the hands and date window with the shallow onion-style crown at 3 o’clock. Perrelet has fitted the watch with a 25-jewel automatic movement that’ll keep it ticking for 42 hours on a full charge. Both the front and rear crystals are made from sapphire to protect the contents inside.
