I don't use refillable gel pens so I do have some questions. From quick research, the answer appears to be yes to both of the below but wasn't clear on specifics.
Is it easy to swap to other ink such as Uni, Pentel, or Zebra if so what model?
Can it use 0.5 mm instead of the 0.7 mm and have the same writing smoothness, or is it a sharp and dry?

JerryCNot officially considering these combo pens usually all have proprietary refills. But you may be able to get away with an alternative refill (from another combo pen, I know zebra makes some) if it is slim enough to fit the barrel of the slide mechanism and long enough to be able to be cut down to size. Odds are stacked against you however. Internals:

LeukybearA little more digging on stationary reviews ... aside from the Pilot BVRF-8F, the Uni Style Fit and Pentel Slicci can also be an option for color/size!

JerryCI've been meaning to get this pen although I don't really need two. If you do want two this drop is a good deal.
@Peaches491 $16.60 from JetPens. ;-)
@JerryC This is a ballpoint multipen, not gel ink, but you can use Uni Style Fit refills which contain the same gel ink as the Uni-ball Signo line and are compatible with this multipen. I duno if there are Pilot ballpoint refills in 0.5 for this, not on JetPens anyway, but the Uni refills come in a wide range of sizes and colors. Can't comment on smoothness, though, but you might find gel ink to be smoother than ballpoints anyway.
