So, to confirm, each pen includes one CON-40 converter, yes? The $5 add-ons are additional to what's included?

JayBPCorrect. According to the description, the pen comes with a CON-40 converter. Additional converters can be purchased for $5.00 each.

JayBPApologies for the confusion here - each Pilot Metropolitan fountain pen includes an aerometric converter that is similar to their CON-20 converter, but does not include the piston-style CON-40 converter which is available as an add-on only. We've updated our description accordingly.

LizTo be clear: I find the enclosed converter to be adequate. The squeeze converter is not bad; however, you cannot see ink levels. You could carry an emergency cartridge, which has the highest ink volume you can probably get into this pen, and you could use a syringe to refill cartridges because they take a greater volume of ink. The newer Con 40 converter replaces the squeeze one in most new shipments because you can see through the glass of the converter, but its capacity is less than the cartridge.

JayBPIt comes with a different converter - Aerometric- squeeze type converter which according to Goulet Pens review holds more ink. The Con-40 is a twist piston converter that is sort of an 'upgrade' and I don't know the capacity of this particular converter but the other piston type converters have smaller ink capacity.
