Hi, I'm new to fountain pens and want to buy ink for the pen, however, after googling I got quite confused.
I liked the color of Pelikan 4001, however, Google told me that this pen is a "dry pen", and likes "wet inks", so combination of Metropolitan and Pelikan 4001 (dry ink) would result skipping while typing.
So, for a medium nib, can anyone suggest me a good and preferably cheap ink ? Is Pelikan 4001 ink okay for this pen ? How's Waterman intense black ?
Thanks in advance,

ardaHey there arda,
While it might be tempting to buy really nice inks right off the bat, it might be a good idea to begin with some of the cheaper inks to experiment with. Noodler's inks are a great option. There have been reports that these inks can stain the insides of pens, but with the Metroplitian being relatively cheap, I suggest them as a good option.
A ton of retailers carry Noodler's, but I prefer to order from the Goulet Company (I'm not not endorsed), which does a great job of introducing people to the hobby: https://www.gouletpens.com/noodlers-bottled-ink/c/128
Check out their Youtube videos for extra help.

WolfkettleHey there,
Thanks for the suggestions! I've looked at Noodler's, but sadly, local availability is a barrier for me, too. Noodler's are as expensive as Waterman or Pelikan here. If I buy from Goulet Company, it'd cost more because of the shipping. Not to mention my country has a policy for imported liquids, so I'm not sure how that'd work to be honest.
I can buy 30 ml of Pelikan 4001 and Waterman intense black about $6-7 each here. Noodler's are about $17 in local shops (3oz). When you compare So comparing with these two brands, price per ml is about the same, or worth the upgrade I guess.
Which inks can stain inside of the pen by the way ? Noodler's ?
Thanks in advance,

ardaCatch-up. Ended with J. Herbin Perle Noire, it's a great ink and works quite nicely with Metropolitan. Got the bottle for like ~$6.5 from a local shop.

ardaI use the Pelikan 4001 inks with this pen. I have not had any skipping issues. But I do use it daily.

ardaOff-topic different catch-up. My Pelikan 4001 was very dry for every one of my pens I own. I like its blackness, but didn't want to throw it away. So, searching online helped me solve it. If you add a drop of dishwashing detergent to the ink, the ink becomes wetter because you increase the concentration of that lubricant material.
