I'm curious what the glossy band on the barrel, just before the cap, is made of. It feels like the kind of plastic films used for screen protectors; I don't like it on a metal pen body, it feels cheap. I thought it was some type of protective tape I could remove, and even tried scraping it off with a Kershaw when that failed, but I only managed to make scratches and chippings; it didn't behave at all like the plastic films it feels like. More like some ceramic or marble, but it really doesn't feel like that to the touch.
