Would love this with a black-plated/stealth nib rather than the rhodium trim - I don't suppose that's possible to arrange??

JamerelbeI completely agree! I'm all over this if it has a black nib.

JamerelbeI don't think Pilot makes them this way, but I agree that would be super sexy.
Edit: They do actually carry a black-ish nib. The picture I'm looking at though, doesn't look significantly "blacker."

ChanceLuskI bought the matte black VP a few months back from Amazon, expecting to get the rhodium nib as pictured, but was pleasantly surprised to find a black nib. So Pilot may have switched to all black for the stealth black model. Maybe someone from MD can open one up to confirm?
As for the pen itself, I was very dissappointed at first as it was scratchy and skipped quite a bit. After checking out the pen forums, I figured out how to spread the times slightly and smooth out the "baby's bottom" on the nib and it's writing much better now. However, a pen at this price point should write great out of the box, so -1 star for the QC.

JoeFFrom what I understand, originally the stealth VP came with a rhodium nib, and there was no such thing as a black nib. Black nibs are relatively recent, and it may be possible the pictured pen was bought a while back or was old stock. Assuming these are ordered directly from pilot, the stealth VP should come with a black nib.
