Did anyone else have problems with their payment going through, then not having a chance to respond within 24 hours and, consequently, missing out on the drop?
Have to say, I'm rather disappointed, especially considering I joined with a day of it opening. Massdrop, I'm hoping we can find a way to fix this...

andyI have -- the response was essentially "nothing we can do, check back to see if there are extras"
Considering I joined for one of the fine-nibbed models which were in high demand, I would find it hard to believe that not all of the initial numbers were sent. I've been in contact with a massdrop representative, and it seems all I can do is "check back." Is there anyway to sort out the payment details, then have it processed/shipped with the rest of the order once it arrives at Massdrop?

willhUnfortunately, it sounds like you missed the boat on this. In the future, please have the correct billing, shipping information, and funds available. This drop was running for 7 days and everyone knew when it was going to end. You knew it was a high demand product and yet, some how there was a payment error (Processor Declined, which can mean a lot of things). We send out an automated email that will ask you to correct your information within the 24 hours we give to all users who have payment errors. It sounds like you didn't correct it in time and it's not fair for the rest of the group to wait because of x,y, z reasons. Trust me, we wanted to charge you for the goods, but we fill orders based on the people that have the correct payment information on file, hopefully you understand.
Also, not sure if email was the issue, but make sure you provide an email address that you check on a regular basis. We can't communicate updates or payment errors if it's going to a spam email account. One way to keep websites in check and see if your email is being sold is to append +website to your email, for example. willh+massdrop@gmail.com. If we do sell your account (we never will), you'll know the source and can act accordingly.

andyProbably not worth getting into everything here, but I don't always have time to check my email on a daily basis, and didn't even see the message until that 24hr deadline had passed. Also didn't help that the one email I did see -- the one saying the "ink" was being shipped and things were going ahead -- made me think everything was working out. My previous orders have always gone through, and I had no reason to expect there to be a problem here.
I'm curious -- if you only make drops for a maximum of X items, and you're going to order all the items from the manufacturer anyway, why couldn't the payment be processed before things shipped out from Massdrop's HQ? That was really all I wanted, to sort out matters as soon as I found out about them

willhI assume you mean to ask why Massdrop doesn't allow people to pay after they've ordered their item and before it's sent to them. What incentive does Massdrop have in allowing you to reserve one of a small number of items allowed without guarantee that you'll pay for it after they've made their own transaction? ie. what you're asking for is a spot in the drop based solely on credit.

SaraThe incentive would be in the fact that you've payed before they make their transaction with the supplier... That's not making a purchase on "credit"
