How does the feel of the Varsity pen compare to the Pilot Metropolitan with medium nib?

d111I have both and I like them both quite a bit, but the Metropolitan definitely has a better feel since it's made of metal. For the price though, the Varsities are pretty awesome. As far as writing, both are very smooth. It feels like the Varsity has a tiny bit more "flex" to it (although there isn't much more stroke weight variation). The M nib on the Varsity is slightly wider than the M nib on the Metro. It's more like a regular medium size, rather than the finer medium size that the Metro has.
I use both almost daily though. I keep the Metros at my desk, and carry a Varsity in my jeans pocket, just because I'd be a lot more okay with losing a Varsity than a Metro. They seem super sturdy, so I'm not too worried about it breaking or leaking in my pocket. It would be nice if the clip was a little more substantial though.
Also, I don't know if anybody's mentioned it yet, but these Varsities can be refilled pretty easily. A web search will give you further details on how to do this if you are interested.
I am still amazed at how well the Varsities write for the price. I might just have to jump on this drop even though I still have a half dozen left from the last time I bought a box of them. It's nice to have extras to give to friends. Everyone I've given them to so far has loved them.
