Glad to get in on this. I need a pair of speakers for my home office, and these should do me fine. I am on the lookout for a 2.1 amplifier. I see that Dayton Audio makes one with Bluetooth--the DTA-2.1BT 100W Class D. Does anyone know of others that would be a good match for the Pioneers and a sub? Budget for amp limited to $150.

drstock56I second this question. Can we get some suggestions for fairly low cost 2.1 amps to drive these and a sub from a PC? I would prefer something with an optical in I think.

drstock56I third this question. I've been thinking about getting a pair of powered bluetooth-enabled speakers, something like these Edifiers https://www.amazon.com/Edifier-R1700BT-Bluetooth-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B016PATXSI/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1526762092&sr=1-2-spons&keywords=edifier+speakers&psc=1. With the reviews of these Pioneers though I'm thinking I might be better off with these and a bluetooth amp.

JeremyP@JeremyP & @drstock56 Im sure 'fairly low cost' means different things to different people, so I apologise if this is still to expensive - but I love the Yamaha 2.1 sound profiles - they are energetic and perhaps a little brighter than some. This can make a really nix mix with these bookshelves which can tend to sound a little on the warm side of analytical (smooth or soft might be a better description)
https://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-R-S202BL-Stereo-Receiver/dp/B01EMQI2CU/ at $119 USD (or 106 open box)
I also tend to enjoy Steve Guttenbergs reviews, and he loved it (even mentions the pioneer speakers here): https://www.cnet.com/news/this-149-yamaha-rs-202-stereo-receiver-wowed-the-audiophiliac/

drbroadYes, I have been looking at that one. So a powered sub would connect to "B" speakers' output, if one wanted a sub at all? Is that where you're getting the 2.1 instead of 2.0 as it's described in the link? Sorry, newbie here.

drstock56& @drbroad Agreed, I had the same question on this Yamaha when I looked at it. Seems there are mixed reports as to the effectiveness of this configuration (running the sub off the 'B' speaker output). I haven't read Mr. Guttenberg's review on this yet... I'll have to give that a read and see if he mentions anything about subwoofer connectivity.

JeremyPNo, he doesn't, but then he's pretty anti-subwoofer for music listening. I don't know if I would use one anyway.

drstock56Oh, im sorry I didnt look that close. In that case: https://www.amazon.com/Sony-STRDH550-5-2-Channel-Receiver/dp/B00J30GXW2/ has a 'used like new' for $125 USD that i would highly recommend. Really musical receiver , with dedicated Sub out

drstock56FWIW im not a huge bass head, and I think a lot of home Subwoofer setups are heavy handed (crossover too high, too loud) but I have an 8 inch sub in one room and I highly recommend it - It does help to just fill out the sound when you use it sparingly. All depends on your setup, of course.
