This is the new Planck! STM32 and a bunch of goodies - the same that the Preonic got in its latest drop. USB-C is the future, so I've integrated that, hot-swap sockets, and footprints for some cool add-ons, like a Qwiic port (https://www.sparkfun.com/qwiic) that will work well with Sparkfun's ecosystem, along with some other things that we're cooking up! Other footprints include WS2812B LEDs, a 4-channel DIP switch, a JST power plug, 4 encoder footprints, and some headers for breadboard fun - all these components will be coming up in a future drop with compatible Mod cases. By default, only the encoders and RGB LEDs will fit into the standard case without modifications. We're also offering the Mid-Pro case for the first time in this drop - it gets this name because it's the same size as the Lo-Pro cases offered in the past, but uses the Hi-Pro top plate, so you can easily change between them if you want to change things up in the future. This also allows for some more color customizations that will coming up in a future drop as well :D Here's some more pics of the red & yellow cases, in case you want to try to match some popular keysets with them ;)

Sorry for the delay, but it was just meant to state that all of the possible scenarios you described in your comment are likely to be the case in some form or another. OLKB is backlogged and I’m sure that there has been some overlap between releases to satisfy shortages for parts on orders.

@jackhumbert Please could you make some official statement of your attitude to open-sourcing the hardware? If yes, where is the schematic and other files published? If not, why not as this makes all the carefully thought out extension features very difficult to use. Even if you do not want to make it easy for others to manufacture PCBs, how about still publishing just the schematic for those of us who will purchase from you, but want to make modifications?

This is my experimental ortholinear layout made with this kit. The UK layout is shown, it also works with the US key mapping. The concept is aimed at inveterate two-fingered typists and it is guaranteed to drive those who hit the space bar with their thumbs to distraction! The red keys are symmetrical left to right and carry all the non-typing functions. Tapped, they produce space, return, tab and destructive backspace as shown on the face. Held down while another key is tapped they act as the four modifier keys. Chords of two or more red keys act as layer-shift, for example the characters on the front edge of the green keys are accessed by holding down the 'space' and 'return' red keys simultaneously (on either side). So far I am finding this very ergonomic for my typing style, but there are issues, for example multiple modifiers (ctrl+alt+del) require complex work-arounds which are not easy either to type or to remember. I do have these keys duplicated on my mouse which strikes me as a better solution anyway (although such mice are sadly rare). This does require some firmware modifications and I've not yet got my head around how to publish them on GitHub, but if there is any interest I'll put some more effort into that.

So uhh... Any updates on this? I get that the shipping date was set super far away, I assumed because manufacturing would take time, but Drop is selling the Preonic now and units are readily available...

Being new to massdrop. Question here: if it says that it's currently out of stock, does that mean I need to come next year at least? Or do I need to get in queue smh?

If you ordered it, you're fine, it will come. If you missed the drop you'll probably have to wait another year for Planck V7. You can always buy the Planck directly from OLKB, however.
