PandemosYeah I know it's a specialty market but small production and milled ALUMINUM does not justify the price in any way aluminum is not a great metal in any way

mohamstersIt's not cheap, aluminum blocks go for more than you think as it isn't sheet aluminum, then you have to pay for custom milling and/or tooling. Aluminum is light for a metal and has a high strength to weigh ratio, doesn't corrode as easily as steel and is easy to anodize for custom colors. It has a more premium feel than plastic, doesn't crack as badly over time, low flex and has enough weight (but not too much) to keep it in place better than plastic. Your other option for a similar weight would be Titanium, but that would be exceptionally expensive. It's not the entire price--as I clearly pointed out the small production (adds to cost, as price per unit goes down as production goes up) and specialty market (niche products can ask for higher gross profit sales), but it does go towards the costs. I explained why they are so expensive very simplistically, if you don't like the answers, then you can always spend your money elsewhere or buy a less expensive KB. If you want to try them out, you can always look at secondary markets with used boards or purchasing flawed stock like B- Stock with slight scratches and build your own for much less money and the same function.
