What did this end up dropping at? I know there are a ton of options, but maybe a ballpark?
This is my setup:
Top Plate: MIT/Grid Matias Plate (304 Stainless Steel) (+$2.00)
Case: Orange Milled Aluminum Bottom (+$15.00)
Switch Options: Matias Quiet-Click Switches (-$7.00)
Keycaps: PBT DSA White Keycaps for Grid (Matias) (+$14.99)
Through Hole LED Options: None
Exact same as mine :) Except I got white LED's.
Awesome! I didn't put in LED's because I was told that you couldn't solder on LEDs on the Matias switches. I don't know if you are aware of that.
Matias switches can make use of 2x3x4mm LEDs. The only limiting factor is clearance between the PCB and case.
Yes, you're right! My previous understanding was it was to be soldered underneath the board plus someone else mentioning the clearance between the PCB and the case as you mentioned. That's why I'm going to put different switches WITH the matias.
So like $135 + shipping? That's a pretty damn good deal.
I'm going to try to build one of these closer to the end of the year (poor college students have to plan expenses and all =P) with some purple zealios. Going to be a bit more than $135 though, haha.
Everything ended up just under $135 WITH shipping (within the US). I'm going to have a mix of Matias and Zealios. Well, look at this way being a student. You get to temper or exercise your discipline in buying things. I'm just glad I don't have to worry about school as a working professional. :)
