Product Description
One of the simplest, most convenient features of many laptops is the magnetic snap-and-charge plug. Patterned after that same technology, these fuss-free magnetic cables allow you to connect your USB-C devices quickly, with one hand, no matter how dark or hard to see it is ... Read More

Reading Koopa’s post is mandatory for anyone thinking about buying this. 5 pins, like this cable has, is not enough for 100% power delivery compatibility. The worst part is - the problems can manifest in some truly bizarre ways. I have a cable that’s completely identical to this one (just from some other repackaging brand) using it to charge MacbookPro 15”. It works correctly only when it’s plugged into top left or top right USB port. In either of the other two ports, laptop is still charging, but the screen won’t turn off when the lid is closed. Took me forever to track the source of the problem down, and isolate it to this cable. So, that’s the kind of experience you can expect from it :/

I stopped using this almost immediately after receiving it. I need a pair of pliers to remove this from anything I try charging with it.

Do not buy this product! It does not work with either MacBook Pro or Nintendo Switch. When I contacted Drop to get a refund, they stated that just because it didn't work with my "specific device" doesn't mean it's defective. This is false advertising! The drop specifically states that it should work with USB-C devices but it does not! I'm not sure if my particular cable is defective or if this cable does not work with these devices, but either way this is some shady business.

Ok, I have bought 8 of these cables + adapters in 3 different batches and used them over 18 months. The concept is good, the execution is horrible:
  • For full USB-PD compatibility, you need 6 pins not 5 like they have. Fails on many laptops / batteries for this reason.
  • The magnets are too weak. the cables fall off too easily / become misaligned.
  • The plastic on the outside of the adapter is too soft and eventually deforms and blocks the contacts.
This product is better in all of these areas: https://elecjet.com/collections/elecjet-products/products/magjet-magnetic-usb-c-charger-cable

Anyone run Android Auto with one of these? From my experience Android auto is picky about cables

I run AA with magnetic cable for a year now, but it was not easy to find correct one. First one - it was only charging, ZERO transfer, but costed only $8. Second from Baseus costed lot more, close to $28, was 6 pin and did not transfer data as well. Money back. Now I'm using third model and it works seamlessly, it is McLean MCE 160 and it costed $12. Conclusion: price does not matter :)

Any way we can get it without the 90 degree bend? My setup requires a straight through connection

The price is kind of steep compared to similar magnetic cables IMHO. I've also seen this design available on various platforms including amazon for around the same price... so not sure this is is worth it. Example: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079NJM3VS/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ^ I've got this cable above and it's served me very well for both charging and data . Build quality is impeccable too. I even picked mine up at $16.90 then.
