Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). It’s a concise and comprehensive overview with links to some great sites that go deeper. He also has a separate Links about keyboards page. The Keyboard layouts doc he recommends explains layout goals and metrics in detail, summarizing the alt layouts discussed here as well as more than one hundred others. Sculpted-profile The majority of custom keycap sets are sculpted-profile (Cherry, SA, MT3, KAT, etc. - more on profiles generally here) so let’s start there. Coming from Cherry and Gateron switches, these 35g electro-capacitive switches are very different. They do feel a little like a rubber dome, but do not feel mushy at all. So these are definitely an improvement over rubber domes. 35g feels very light and the switches slide down very smoothly. No complaints here.
When the board first arrived and I plugged it in, the FN+NumLock was on and several keys were only outputting numbers. But after pressing FN+NumLock the keyboard began to function as normal. Highly recommending this keyboard for anyone on the fence. Thanks MD!
I can agree that LED lighting is nice on this board; crisp. There are seven standard colour lightings to choose from with various LED effects, or you can make your own with the programming software. The programming software for this keyboard only works on Windows and not Apple, if you're a regular Apple user, for anyone wondering.
There is an MX variant with Gateron switches on this keyboard, but I recommend to give these cloned Topre switches a chance on this keyboard, they're really good. Any Novatouch or Topre switches users can certainly agree here about electro capacitive switches.
Only little problem with this keyboard is finding a replacement space bar which is kind of a drag for the size this keyboard uses. It's a 5.5u. Nothing wrong with the stock, replaced mine as I wasn't quite feeling the logo.
common tip, if you use the format @dangadile (in your case @Vira) the person should get a message by mail, which makes it easier to get an answer. https://www.originativeco.com/products/modern-beige / https://geekhack.org/index.php?PHPSESSID=ih5k5kc1lntjlve4c1bgentn2m4h8g4e&topic=83409.0
