Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). It’s a concise and comprehensive overview with links to some great sites that go deeper. He also has a separate Links about keyboards page. The Keyboard layouts doc he recommends explains layout goals and metrics in detail, summarizing the alt layouts discussed here as well as more than one hundred others. -The wooden case was quite nice, I think they got the color and texture right and it was what i would expect from a walnut case. Only notable point was that it felt a little lite, which can be a pro or con depends on what you want. -The hand wrest was also quite nice, again what you would expect from walnut wood. -The brown leather strips was terrible. Some of the cheapest leather i've ever seen - I am not even sure if its real leather. These leather strips were very dry - it was like a thick sand paper ring. I tried to apply leather cream to soften it but there was no turn around. The coloring was also terrible, almost like someone did a very rush painting job.
Overall, I still think its a decent case. Those leather strips were terrible, but really not the integral part of what you are buying and not the hardest thing to DIY with a bit of effort. Is it worth 200 USD? Probably not... as much as I like the case and would like to buy one for the plank keyboard, I am not really willing to pay @ this price.
Hope this helps.
