Andrew Gardner, otherwise known as the “Pen Mechanic” according to his high school teachers, always had a knack for picking things apart and putting them back together again. To home in on his fidgeting nature, he created the Polar Pen: a ballpoint pen and touch screen stylus made with a body of linkable neodymium magnets. To assemble it, just stack the magnets, pop in the pen insert, put on the tip and cap, and it’s ready to go. But that’s just the beginning. Once assembled you can peel the magnets apart and use their magnetic force to make them dance around, snap the cap back on, or even to create new structures. Each pen comes with extra magnets, two caps, a pocket clip, a tip, and a black ink refill.
