Porsche, a name synonymous with high-performance automobiles and elegant style, has a notable reputation crafting many other goods under its subsidiary brand, Porsche Design. Titanium from head to toe, the 1919 Datetimer has a clean look absent of frills Read More
Amazing for the price. Really interesting design- very Porsche. The selitta sw300 movement is based on the classic eta 2334 movement which is in a lot of expensive watches, so again a total bargain for the price
Beautifully made, as is the case with most PD products
Looks really good. Even with the wings it fits my smallish wrist nicely. Two nits... Thick case gets caught under some shirt cuffs and the clasp is a wonky design.
the 1919 Datetimer is a beautiful watch that checks a lot of boxes; simple, clean design, modern aesthetic, easy-to-read, and a high-beat modern movement. Maybe. I have several Sellita SW200 powered watches, and this one from Porsche Design makes an ungodly noise. It is clearly broken, or it is not what it claims to be. The movement sounds like a 9000 series Miyota - I haven't removed the solid casebook yet to see if this is the case. My biggest concern is that the watch will need servicing or repair soon, and the supplied warranty card is not stamped. For a few hundred more I could have bought this watch from a certified dealer with a real warranty.
freaked me out when I opened the larger display box and there was no watch inside, but opened the smaller box and found it. Great watch - I have huge wrists and usually 42mm is too small for me, but the design of the lugs works well. Love the clean minimalist design, with the red accents.
I think of Porsche Design watches as a variant of the Bauhaus modern (c.1930) clean simple design. Given that "Butzi" Porsche was born in 1935 this is not surprising. While this is a 42mm case the unusual (love it or hate it) lug design makes it wear larger. My wrist circumference is a rather average 190mm (~7.5 in) and it fully spans the 75mm top of my wrist. I usually prefer straps to bracelets but went with the Ti links for this drop. After an original short run PD watches were co-branded with IWC and later manufactured by Eterna (where I believe the Porsche family had an investment). Not long after Eterna was sold to the Chinese about 5 years ago production of the cases was effectively taken in-house with Patrick Kury from Eterna. This model arrived much earlier than promised and after removing 4 links, I've been wearing it for about a week. I have no idea if they modify the Sellita SW200 movement, but it has been remarkably accurate with it +4 sec over 6 days. Qualitatively, the machining on the case and bracelet are superb and the overall fit and finish excellent. This is not an ostentatious bling watch and I'll be passing it along to my son later today.
very good workmanship.
