Finally I can add mine here. It took me awhile to understand QMK (it made programming my Infinity Ergodox look easy). QMK for me was a beast with many worlds within it. I would of figured and completed this faster if I did not have a job. However, all the trial and error I’ve gone through makes me feel stronger and no longer afraid of QMK. -Cheers
my new favorite keeb.
Although I still love my infinity ergodox first then this one.
ETA: just switched out the keycap next to (?) key to a gray one since that key is supposed to be shift. I need two shift keys. I don't know how people can adapt to just one shift key, but I can't adapt to the default layout, I just love my shift keys way too much to make that sacrifice since i've already sacrificed my beloved caps lock key.
Nice looking build. I like the warm LED color I wish I would have went with those. I did the same thing with the Right Shift on my board. I also swapped the enter key and the " ' key. This is my first ortho keyboard and this really helped with the learning curve. It only took as couple of days to get up to my normal typing speed.
Nice One :)
I'm going to learn ortho as well, so it is nice to hear that it was not a steep learning curve.
Oh thank you! Nice build as well. I like your LED color. What color is your LED? I’ll probably order some more. Thank goodness I installed SIP sockets so I can change my LED anytime I get bored with it.
I’m almost used to typing on it as well. I’m glad I use two shift keys since I was able to install the “Space Cadet“ feature for it. Love that I can do a short press and I get “( “ and also for the right shift “)” and a longer press to shift normally. Really cool feature. There so many features in QMK. I think I might explore ”tap dancing” feature next. The more I explore the more I realize how powerful this little keeb is. :-)
Yeah, I agree with how powerful QMK is, I also have the Space Cadet feature, nice way for quickly insert parens.
I got the LEDs from Amazon, http://a.co/7r2Totx, they are the white color. Wish I would have thought of using SIPs this was my first build so I learned a lot. I really like the ortho config and am already thinking of building another.
Great looking build, sir.
I think people here have very good eyes to match colors nicely.
Your led looks good, zcabrage's led looks good, too.
I also use 2 shift keys since I have to use other language's alphabets,
and don't use capslock much so I need both of them.
Default layout is based on Jack's idea and his habit, I think.
Finding suitable layout is another fun of this hobby.
Your personal layout is your best layout.
I hope you have a great weekend and enjoy your keyboarding, sir!
