I'm not a Music/Sound producer so I cant speak to these for that use case. However, as a music lover these are great if you are looking for a neutral sound signature in your set of speakers. I have mine connected via a Motu M2 2x2 for a simple set up via the RCA monitor outputs. I have owned a pair of these for almost 2 years now and dont fine any reason to change.
It doesn't seem like a deal to me. Most studio monitors are bi-amped and include electronic crossovers and two amps per speaker. Bi-amping eliminates crossover distortion which is critical in creating an excellent master recording.
