Also, does this use mantles or no?

Logan96Yes, Primus mantle 3-pack part number 730800. Same one as used in the Micron. As to which is better, that may be mostly subjective. The frosted glass globe may produce a more even and diffused light, but may be more fragile.

I have a Primus micron steel caged lantern, is this better? It's a bit more expensive

Logan96I have both of them. If I have the space I much prefer the one with the glass: it produces much more light thanks to the glass and it is not a blinding light. The carrying case is very sturdy. The micron I don't use very often because if I want to go ultralight I just carry a headlamp and a pocket lamp. The ones with glass are a bit more tricky to get the mantel changed but it is still relatively easy to do. All things considered this lamp is my favorite one.
