Hey, spec sheet says it has a max support of 165, but only up to 144hz is supported over the connections? Whats up with that? Do you have to overclock this or something? Also, is the expected ship date accurate, or will monitors likely ship out when the drop ends? Some are like that so I thought i'd ask.

WychuSamsung doesn’t have freesync with gsync support. Max 144hz refresh rate and 4ms response time compared to 165hz and 1ms response time.

Danielrvr53What even does G/Freesync do? My monitor right now has 144hz and no gsync and I don't see what else the G/Freesync could offer. And I had asked above How you're supposed to get 165hz when it says it supports x-144hz over the connections.

WychuG-Sync and FreeSync are both designed to smooth out gameplay, reduce input lag, and prevent screen tearing. Helps compensate for low frame rate. (if you start dropping frames in a graphically intensive game) As for the 144 vs 165hz claim, I’m not sure. Some reviews say there’s two DP connections and one is for 144 while the other is 165hz. Some say it’s 144 but able to be overclocked to 165hz. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Danielrvr53Ah ok. And how exactly do you overclock a monitor anyway? I recently looked with no concise answer.

Wychuyou can enable the "Overdrive" under the monitor OSD menu. Of course your PC/NB must support 165hz frequency first.

PrincipleMatteris there a reason it has to be enabled? Does it cause more wear on the hardware or something?

Danielrvr53typically the drops ship immidiately but there can be delays so usually they put the latest date they could reliably make

WychuThe factory default setting is "Disable" since most frequency range is between 60Hz to 144Hz. especially the 144hz, which just getting popular in recent two years. 165hz is the most you can get for a QHD monitor. It will NOT cause more wear on the monitor, because it is designed for this higher frequency.
