These cutting boards originate in Mexico, where they’re handcrafted from narrow teak strips for a strong adhesive bond. Teak is known for its stability and high levels of resin, which give the hardwood a unique ability to repel moisture, warping, and other problems from aging Read More
Block is heavy and solid. Works great. Easy to clean. I use mineral on mine to keep it in good shape. This board is a little different than your average board as this is end-grain. Very unique cutting board. I use mine all the time. I only hand wash this board.
Pros: Looks great! Good solid wood, no gaps that I could see or feel. Top and bottom are nice and flat.
Cons: Not entirely finished - feels like they stopped at the file or rasp stage. When oiling it, a paper towel caught and started to rip a bit on some of the edges. The handle grooves are particularly rough. A few minutes of hand sanding with 150 grit on the edges/handles and some quick 220 grit on the surfaces made it nice and smooth, the way it really should have been delivered.
This is one solid and relatively hefty cutting board that looks simply beautiful. It looks great in the kitchen and is very useful. The inset side handles are perfect.
It's a beautiful board, but after a 6 months of mild use and proper care it has developed a crack at a seam point, about 3 inches across. I fear it will get worse. I have contacted the company for support and will revise my review based on their response.
The large block I ordered arrived well packed and without any flaws. The workmanship is perfect and very attractive. It's hard to use this beautiful piece but use it I will. I oiled mine and the wood is even more impressive.
