I bought these headphones with the hope to hear music as if I was hearing it through real speakers. That’s not the case. They are Ok headphones sound wise. They are not a 150 -200 or even less 300 dollars sound headphones. They are not very comfortable. The ear cups are too narrow for my ears, and I have pretty average ears size. The clap pressure is too much. They feel more on-ear headphones. I have to open them every 15 minutes to give my ears a rest. Also, they need to be broken-in. At the start, they sounded terrible, but they got better with time. Sound wise they are Ok. I will consider them V shape. Bass is clear but distance (tested with Low by Flo Rita, Loss Yourself to Dance by Daft Punk). Mids are there but nothing special (Until the End and Lovers by Shigeru Umebayashi). Highs are Ok too! (Ouvre by Cecile Noer). Sound stage is compact (Keith Don’t Go by Nils Lofgren). Clarity is better than average (The Echo Game by Shigeru Emebayashi). Even though the Samsung S8 and IPhone 6 are good enough to drive them, they sound better at higher volume levels. Other songs that I tried to get a feeling of space – image – sensation “I wish You Were Here), “For Elise”, “Rise” and “Rotation” by Herb Alpert, “Gymnopedie”, some Fado, some Rancheras. Final though, the M4U1 was just Ok. There are better alternatives at the same and lower price range, such as the Sennheiser HD5XX (548, 518, 598, etc), ThinkSound ON2, and the Mitchell & Johnson MJ1 (at Massdrop price) are much better headphones.

The NAD HP50s made their way back to me. I gave them a comparison test. I stand by my earlier comment that the PSBs are superior. Just providing verification after an actual test, guys.

I have my original pair bought a few years ago. I liked them so much I picked up a spare but they don’t sound as good...? I also bought the M4U 2’S but never listened to them as yet. I had read how the plastic bands break so I always take extra care using them. I agree with you, I don’t use them often but when I do I’m smiling.
