I get it, I love seersucker and would wear it year round if it made sense. That said, even with the cord lining, anyone who doesn't know it has a cord lining, to stay warm, will think you are a complete dumbass for wearing a jacket made of seersucker. There is a reason it is taboo to wear seersucker in certain seasons all based on practicality. I would laugh if I saw someone wearing this (not knowing it has a warm lining). This is a hard one to pass on because I love seersucker so much but for those who dress to make a statement, the only statement you are screaming to people is that you have no idea what seersucker is meant for (again, since they have no clue it has a warmer lining).

PhinwehHi Phinweh, I’m Mike from Qilo and also the designer of the jacket. I’m sorry this is an erroneous description on massdrop’s site. There is no corduroy material, it is simply a lightweight jacket for spring/summer only that is not meant to keep one “warm“, but for those cool, breezy summer nights that you find yourself slightly underdressed. The construction is cotton seersucker shell, a thin satin lining and is only meant for late spring or summer. Hope this helps!

mstizWith all due respect, that kind of makes this worse. The only thing this jacket had going for it was the fact that it did in fact keep you warm (so the description says). The entire purpose of seersucker, the entire reason behind its creation, was to keep people cool in hot weather. It was designed to be thin and breathable. Why would I purchase a jacket that was made with a material that is designed to do the OPPOSITE of what a jacket is designed to do? Even on "breezy summer nights that you find yourself slightly underdressed," then you put on a jacket that wasn't designed to let that "summer breeze" flow right through the material. To purchase a jacket designed for a single practical purpose of a breezy summer night makes no sense at all. To purchase a jacket made of a material designed to keep you cool kind of destroys the need for a jacket. So, instead of having a stylish fabric over a practical shell which didn't really make sense, you now just have a stylish jacket that actually defeats the purpose of needing a jacket. I went from, "hmm this is kind of a silly idea but at least it performs the function of a jacket" to "now this doesn't make sense." Here's a question, would you try and sell a flannel beach tank top? If you answered no because flannel is designed to keep you warmer than why the hell would you buy a seersucker jacket? It simply doesn't make sense.

PhinwehSeersucker suits and sport coats are a staple of classic American prep. Seersucker outerwear is hardly a new concept. The new twist with these is applying the fabric to the anorak silhouette. But hey, if it’s not for you it’s not for you!

PhinwehDude, what is wrong with you? If you don’t like the jacket don’t fucking buy it then. I think it’s a great product because of what it’s specifically designed for, that being cool summer nights and not the damn tundra like you seem to think all jackets are made for. And by the way, they do make such a thing as a flannel tank top. Hell, there’s probably even a flannel bikini.

TheDukeofSwaggerThere is a very obvious reason why you don't see such niche clothing in stores on high demand, because wearing flannel to the beach is just plain dumb. Much like wearing a seersucker jacket when it gets cold! If you like to purchase clothing that doesn't fulfill the role it is intended to fill then go for it, but for those less educated about seersucker this piece is absurd. As explained before, on a cool summer night, grab a windbreaker, cardigan, sweater, or pullover as everyone in history has always done, the best part about this is that you can even use these items of clothing in other circumstances too (wow who would have thought people wanted useful clothing).

mstizSeersucker suits are not only a staple of southern wear but almost cultural, but those suits also filled a specific purpose during a specific time. There is a reason they fell out of favor and have only been revived through recent classical revival trends. Even still, seersucker suits fulfilled the role of needing to appear dressy while staying cool. See the difference here? There was a purpose. A traditional wool suit was too thick and so Southern gentleman chose linen and seersucker instead to stay cool since social norms expected them to stay well dressed. This just doesn't serve a purpose. I'm not saying it has to stand up to a 'tundra', but a classic pullover, cardigan or sweater has traditional filled this role for a reason.

PhinwehStop being such a pretentious fuck. You’re telling us nothing we don’t already know. Personally, I understand where you are coming from. I mainly look for comfort and practical usage over fashion when shopping for my clothes. But with that being said, I think the jacket is perfect for what it was made for. In my opinion, you stating the history of seersucker further proves why it’s actually more practical then not. It’s not even close to the most impractical thing that’s ever been invented. What first drew my attention to the jacket was solely the word “Seersucker” because it’s my favorite fabric and I’m always on the look out for seersucker clothes and items. When looking more thoroughly at the design of the jacket (and more specifically the photo of the model at the beach) I knew I was sold on the garment. I envisioned I would be using the jacket during the summer months only as the weather in my state gets very hot during the day and although still maintaining the heat during the night, it cools down enough to warrant such an article. Maybe if you live in a place where the summer weather is never past the 70s and not very humid then the jacket might not be useful to you. But in that case why do you find the need to continue blabbing about how it’s such a horrible jacket? Is it not enough that even the designer of the jacket said “if it’s not for you, then it’s not for you”. Nobody gives a shit, especially if your money isn’t even going to the company. There’s no problem with being content with your $20 Walmart hoodie. But meanwhile, Mstiz and I will be looking baller as fuck in our seersucker jackets.

TheDukeofSwaggerThank you, for all of those words. 100% agree with you.
Phinweh, complaining about this jacket, in multiple posts, with little substance nonetheless, is just trying to show that you know something that none of us don't already know. Son, what your Southern Daddy forgot to explain to you, and this is certainly no disrespect to him because I know personally it's hard to teach the little know-it-all shits like you how to think beyond the "rules", is that style evolves. It doesn't always have logic, it changes, it's fun and mixes genres, cultures, and whatever else you can throw in. Bravo to the designer for taking a fun, new spin on a classic.

PhinwehI don't think it'd lined with corduroy. It says it has a corduroy "shell," but they probably mean seersucker.
