At 7.3 inches overall and 3.6 ounces, the QSP Hawk is right in the sweet spot for many in the EDC community. In terms of materials, it’s right on the money, too. Crafted with an ergonomic handle in your choice of carbon fiber, Verawood (a South American hardwood), or micarta, the Hawk feels right at home in the pocket or the hand. Depending on your budget, the Hawk comes in a variety of styles. The base price is for Verawood with an S35VN blade. If you want something a little more high-end, opt for carbon fiber and S35VN. New to the fold this run are three micarta-handle models with corrosion-resistant 14C28N blades. Outfitted with a reliable liner lock, the Hawk deploys two ways. Use the thumbstud or the flipper tab and it readily leaps into the open position. Finally, the knife’s pommel has a recessed deep-carry clip and lanyard hole for convenient carry.
Note: At checkout, you’ll have your choice from the following models: Verawood handle with S35VN blade (base price), carbon fiber handle with S35VN blade (+ $15), brown micarta handle with 14C28N blade (- $15), OD green micarta handle with 14C28N blade (- $15), or blue micarta handle with 14C28N blade (- $15). Developed by Crucible Industries (one of the leading manufacturers of specialty steels for the cutlery industry) and Chris Reeve (arguably the most famous knifemaker in the world), S35VN is perhaps the most balanced blade steel ever created in terms of all-around performance. It’s made through a process of powdered metallurgy known as CPM, which results in near perfect consistency in the distribution of carbides. Compared to conventional melting practices, the CPM process produces a steel characterized by superior dimensional stability, grindability, and toughness.
