I could care less what it looks like but my guess is this design is ineffective. Have you measured the force required to depress the buttons? My estimation would be it's actually higher than a traditional mouse due to the force required being so close to the fulcrum ie. Your knuckle.
good point, however the fulcrum of the RBT isn't located under the knuckle but instead just beneath the fingertips.
and due to less finger joints involved in the process, you also react much quicker.

mechanical switches: 55 ~ 75 gf.
Press force: 75 ± 20gf
Scroll wheel scroll action: 50 ± 20 gf-cm
scroll wheel press action: 200 ± 40 gf
