So it looks like these just have:
- Heavier paper (90gsm vs 80gsm) - Fewer sheets (70 vs 80) - Different cover
Compared to normal Rhodia staple pads?

Hookthe paper is a lot smoother than the regular 80gsm pad. It's definitely a dream to write on. Unfortunately, the dry time may suffer a bit.

j-ookamiWhy not buy Clairefontaine then? Way cheaper, 90gsm, buttery smooth...

HookI think that's correct, but also, the lined pads also have no margin rule. Which IMO is great, because the normal Rhodia lined pad margin ends up cutting way into the paper's overall usable surface area.

HookI suggest trying one if you haven't. The Rhodia rep @ the Philadelphia Pen show let my friend and I write in their sample book. Each of us went home with 10 notebooks of different sizes just for this paper. It's pretty awesome.

MixelsBy Clairefontaine I'm going to assume you're referring to Triomphe...?
RhodiaR (Rhodia in general) uses Clairfontaine paper and the only apparent difference that I can see is the paper colour: RhodiaR is ivory/cream paper while Triomphe is pure white. Then there's the whole perforated and non-perforated , glue vs. staple bound, but that's just minor detail.
Both actually feels like the same type of paper (a true paper enthusiast could probably protest to this, but for plebeian enthusiast like me, they feel the same...) It really comes down to your preference. Price wise, they're about the same. Triomphe has 50 sheets while Rhodia R has 70sheets, hence the slightly higher pricing for RhodiaR.
