"Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's" This is another Fred Perrin Lagriffe copy. A shame !! At least rare people like Sal Glesser gives hommage to the designers... Ernest Emerson did give royalties to Fred Perrin for his Tiger Claw and even Lynn Thomson from Coldsteel too !!
Fred Perrin has developed this concepts for decades. Know your cutlery history !!

Perhaps the RaidOps people have a similar arrangement with Mr. Perrin. If a design works, it will be mimicked: there is no escaping that. It is polite to mention influences in a knife catalogue write-up but not necessary, as everyone has one. Hopefully they discuss this stuff with their ’influences’ and settle on something...

I know Fred Perrin and his answer was clear: no arrangement with that company.

That is unfortunate. I carry one of his designs every week. Thank you; I have just cancelled my order.

I was like you excited until Fred told me he did not collaborate with them. His next collaboration is a beautiful hightech Raptor with another French company in 2019 , here is a preview of the rendering of Fred classic "Raptor" long Lagriffe with Bastien's beautiful fuller trademark:

(Bastinelli Knives, I really hope and wish to see a drop with Bastien's knives here on Massdrop BTW) Because LaGriffe means The Claw in French. Even the name if the "Raidops" copy here was inspired by Fred little neck knife. I know some Russian copies named Amigo for example... At least they don't copy the name too. Amnesia is a disease but some malice is also at play as those makers KNOW where the LaGriffe's design come from and their main purpose is to use the work of someone else to ride on the wave he has generated after years of lonely works and bladeshows !! This is pure stealing. The looting of decade of work and marketing by Fred. This is the same story which happen Sal Glesser's spyderhole ! We should educate people to protect inventors before to steal and copy ideas for profit. This is what push us into a selfish mess: the absence of respect and the culture of amnesia.

Hello Sandman. You seem very knowledgeable. Black Dragon Forge makes a knife called skull tactical necker. It looks like Fred Perrin la griffe. Does Black Dragon Forge have Perrin permission?? http://blackdragonforge.co.za/knives_details.asp?ProductID=30&ProductCategoryID=1

Hello. Nope. The only companies which got Fred Perrin's authorization to make a Lagriffe version are mentioning him in the description of their knife. To my knowledge here they are: Emerson Knives for the Tiger Claw. Spyderco for the SPOT and SWICK Cold Steel for the Cross Guard and Bastinelli knives for the coming Raptor. If they are any other manufacturers who mention "Fred Perrin's design", he has given his autorisation to reproduce his pattern. The main defender of inventors is an inventor himself: Sal Glesser. He will never use any design or inventions without mentionning and paying royalties to the source inventor. Sal does that for Emerson's Wave for exemple but also for the way Fred Perrin used a hole in a neck knife before neck knives were in fashion... Sal also give credits to locks inventors and pay royalties to them.
This is respect as Fred also shows respect to inventors and forgotten knifemakers. I know Perrin since the 90's and we were writing together articles for the internet (on geocities) back then.
You can find all those designs on my little blog: nemoknivesreview.com BTW, look for Fred Perrin in the search.
