I'm new to Magic, but why would you buy the booster box when you can buy the whole set from the other drop?

cc24Most people who buy these like to do 'Drafts' or 'Sealed' with friends/playgroups. Check out it here, https://magic.wizards.com/en/game-info/gameplay/formats/booster-draft https://magic.wizards.com/en/game-info/gameplay/formats/sealed-deck

YakovOh ok I see. This is my first set and I want to play standard. Can I make a strong deck using only this set? Or is it better to try to use some from older sets?

cc24If you want to make a strong deck for FNM, don't buy a box. You won't use most the cards, you'll only get a handful of the strong cards from this set (and likely only 1 or 2 of each), and you'll still need cards from other sets.

cc24In March/April Wizards usually release "challenge decks" which are fully-formed, Standard-Legal decks, with generally high quality/power - so definitely keep an eye out for those. There are some out now (the 2017 versions) that are mostly NOT standard-legal. That said, if you buy the "Planeswalker decks" they are fully standard-legal, they work together nicely, and though they aren't of the highest raw power/strength, they are fun to play and you can absolutely take one to a Standard/FridayNightMagic event and have a good time :) https://www.massdrop.com/buy/ravnica-allegiance-planeswalker-deck-2-pack
