I think it would be great if you could have on that can be stopped somehow, as what I am thinking would be the best use for this type of thing is when you have all o the cables and cords ad connectors attached to power strips near each other, but the 3-6 ft cords only need to reach maybe a foot, and therefore be able to partially unwind and wind the cords to clean up and prevent tangles during use, not just for transport. This is for all the terrible cords for real phones, laptops, ect... Hopefully you understand what I mean, as my desk and a few other locations are cluttered bunches of cords, but I need to still be using them.
I just got an email from Grand St today for the same product, and it is $13 more than here for the same thing, so I am very happy to see yo working with Massdrop. However, I think I am looking for something slightly more compatible with being used while being controlled.
