Proud owner of the Red Scarf III Deluxes for 3 years and going. Haven’t ran into any issues and I currently own 3 of them. They are solidly built and I use them everyday. Only con is that it’s not hotswappable...It was a lot of soldering and lubing! The end results speaks for itself. I enjoy the heck out of each one of them! Red one was my first custom ever and that got me really into this hobby.

Great kit, terrible stabs. Beautiful even without the optional base, but those garbage stabs mock me every time I hit any stabilized key with their terrible rattle.

Edit for clarification: I bought mine during the late 2017 drop. My experience sounds markedly different from people who bought theirs during an earlier drop. Everyone who bought this board received a defective plate. At the time MD's stance on this was basically "we're gonna try to get you corrected plates, but can't promise anything". 3 months later we did finally get corrected plates and could begin assembly. While testing the PCB before soldering as usual, all keys registered, but I noticed the USB connection would drop out requiring me to adjust the connection slightly to get it connected again. I wrote this off as a bad wire, or how I was holding it. It didn't happen when I tried to repro it and honestly I had so little faith in RS and MD's ability to replace a bad PCB that I figured I would just be responsible for fixing anything bad on the board at this point anyway. I got it all together and the board worked with intermittent disconnections for about 3 months until the day it disconnected and never worked again. I tried a multimeter which showed a clean connection on all USB pins and to the controller. I tried hitting it with a heatgun in hopes I could reflow something that wasn't soldered properly. Still no luck. I'll try swapping out the mini USB port next. I'm sure there's a way to salvage it, but if debugging it takes longer than desoldering the switches, is it worth my time? I can't believe how bad my experience with this product has been. Can't recommend it at all.

Board got fried after a few months. Must have built up static electricity walking around my office. I sat down and went to type, shocked my board and now the left side of the board's keys type gibberish. Hitting 'r' types 34br etc. Including the Esc key which means I CANNOT RE-FLASH so this expensive thing is complete garbage now. No on board dips or anything to reset. Honestly too, the base level of the chasis felt way cheaper than what I was expecting for the price. Very disappointed. Oh and for the few months that it WAS working, it'd freak out occasionally and start repeating whatever the last key was until i unplugged the usb and replugged it in. This happened way too often. Thing is junk.

Nope. There was no information about how to contact support - I figured you guys were just resellers anyway. I have a fried board with a bunch of soldered cherry brown switches, should I desolder them and send it back to you / Massdrop?

The plate did not have all the correct cutouts. After 2 months of waiting for a new plate, I decided to return it.

LED functionality is horrible. Reading the other reviews I believe I also received a defective board. LED functionality worked great for about a week then stopped suddenly. Regret taking the time to solder all the LEDs

Also i apologize for being sour and unpleasent. But you know how it is when you spend money, take the time to solder everything and have a defective board in the end. I honestly think i reached end game with the Massdrop ctrl keyboard. Put some gmk carbons on it and put my soldering iron away.
