Anyone know how to fix the mushiness of my d-pad's Up button? Is it like that for everyone or is there just something gumming up the works in mine? The shoulder buttons are god-awful as well, but it seems like that's how they're made. Also, how long is a charge supposed to last?
Quick review, since my other one got deleted (probably cuz of swearing):
+ Great screen, or good enough to not have any issue with. (never bought backlit SP, Micro, or DS so can't compare)
+ My favorite thing is that you can switch between games without turning it off, but you can also make a button auto fire while holding and backup save.
+ I found I didn't need to set anything up, either. Just copy and pasted some zipped roms and off I went. Not sure if all Revos come pre-installed with software or just Massdrop ones, but much appreciated either way.
+ Can play MP3s, if you wanna use it as a basic music player. VERY basic (no fast forward)
+ Can hook it up to TV (red and yellow connectors)
+ Y and X buttons are a welcome addition, also...
-...absolutely necessary, because L and R are trash. Too much wobble in them, makes it hard to reliably press unless you mash 'em hard. Which I can't do with my left hand for some reason.
- D-pad is the worst. Feels alright at first, even better in some games since it's kinda soft on your thumb, but then... THEY MELT! After about a month, UP and LEFT turned to creaky mush. It feels like DOWN is about ready to go as well. Nope, just checked, DOWN is gone. Plus, it acquired an extra feature. It now registers LEFT if you're not extremely careful.
- The face buttons aren't great either. They're still working, but they feel like they can go any moment now. 'A' at least (since it's the one I use the most). They have a slight wobble, but only slight. Not too bad. But you can't do quick light touches. Gotta mash!
- Charge only lasts 2-3hrs now (charged from PC on usb 2.0). I believe it lasted longer the first few days I had it. I wasn't really paying attention.
I think modding a backlight into a GBA would've been a better way to go.
Great review, this unsealed the deal for me. :) 1 month and most of the hardware are experiencing worn problems damn. It doesn't even matter if you played 24/7 its just too soon.
